Migration Team Projects

The Refugee Resettlement Scheme started in 2014 following the Syrian conflict, aiming to resettle Syrian Refugees.

In 2021, the Afghanistan evacuation began which introduced the ARAP Scheme, resettling Afghan refugees.

In 2022, this scheme expanded to resettling refugees from all across the world.

These schemes aim to integrate and support newly arrived communities with any of their needs while encouraging for their independence.

Our Team supports newly arrived communities with:

  • Housing (Private housing, not Council Housing)
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) lessons
  • Induction Programme (IP) Sessions (a 10-week programme introducing ‘Life in the UK’ to support integration)
  • Case working
  • Employment Support
  • Registration Support for GP’s, schools, benefits, education and more
  • Social integration with the wider community

Homes for Ukraine Scheme started on March 14th 2022 as a new route for Ukrainians without existing connections to come into the UK.

This Scheme allows UK Residents and Businesses/ Communities to sponsor Ukrainians with a place to live or a chance to find property for a minimum of 6 months.

Our Team supports Ukrainians with:

  • Welfare Checks
  • Interim Payments and Sponsor Payments
  • Registration Support for GP’s, schools, bank accounts, ESOL
  • Advice
  • Food Parcel registration (if needed)

Asylum Support

Supported Asylum Seekers since 2016.

Our Team supports Asylum Seekers with:

  • Co-ordinating activities (swimming, football, cooking, ESOL classes at hotels etc)
  • Organising trips
  • Supporting Asylum Seekers with move on period after they receive status (Housing advice, Housing Referrals, Universal Credit (UC) applications, employment support referrals)
  • Supporting new Asylum Seekers that arrive in the city (GP registrations, ESOL referrals, school admissions etc)

Our Coventry

This project will focus on a holistic, coordinated city-wide provision that is applicable to a wider group of participants.

STEP Forward

This project started in 2021,aiming to support and empower women to learn English and becoming more independent.

This Project is funded by World Jewish Relief.

Our Team provides supports with:

  • Weekly ESOL Lessons depending on your level in English.
  • Interactive lessons with the community
  • End of year exams and celebratory picnic

British National Oversea’s (BNO’s)

This project support those travelling and residents from Hong Kong

Our Team provides support with:

  • Lessons on life in the UK
  • Signposting
  • Employment Support
  • Tea Gatherings
  • Educational Sessions
  • Housing

Legacy Projects

Refugee Transition Outcome Fund (RTOF)

RTOF began in 2022 and ended at the end of 2023.

This project aimed to help improve employment, housing, and wider integration outcomes for newly recognised refugees.

Our Team provided support with:

  • Healthcare Services
  • Housing and Universal Credit
  • Family reunion
  • ESOL and Education

This project began in 2021 and ended in 2023. This project worked with many partners and offered varied support.

This scheme aimed to provide clients with greater integration into the UK and Coventry and was funded by AMIF.

Learn Enjoy & Participate (LEAP)

MiFriendly Cities

This project was a 3-year initiative to support refugees and migrants in the West Midlands. It aimed to develop innovative, community-led and sustainable approaches to enhancing the contribution of refugees and migrants in the region.

This project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Urban Innovative Actions Initiative.
